Survive Under Five
"And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others." -2 Corinthians 9:8
The first five years of life are the most critical for survival. As drought, crop failure, civil wars and rising food prices cause supplies to shrink in many parts of Africa, South America and India, the mortality rate among this age group, especially in Africa, is one of the highest in the world.
For some time now we've seen an increase of infants and young children who are severely malnourished arriving at feeding outreaches, medical clinics and our LIFE Centers. Sadly, it's a need that will not just go away, and it certainly cannot be ignored.
Caring for children in this condition is more costly than our normal feeding outreaches. But even children at the brink of death CAN be saved, and with your help, we can provide a minimum of 400,000 Emergency Nutritional Feedings.
Powdered milk, an extra-fortified nutritional soup mix, and feeding administered through I.V. lines all add to the cost to help save an infant child's life, as much as tripling the cost in most cases.
But even at that, it's only about 50 cents per emergency feeding! That means every $100 we can invest in this outreach will help provide 200 Emergency Nutritional Feedings (ENFs).
Time is critical for every child who needs the help of this type of feeding. So I'm asking you today to respond immediately to help provide 400,000 ENFs and help save lives by going the extra mile with this care.
