The Gospel of HOPE in Days of Chaos

Does the world seem like it is in utter chaos, like it is on fire? I am sure your response is a resounding . . . “Yes!” The reality is that when the world is in turmoil it’s the impoverished and vulnerable who suffer the most.

But, in the midst of this suffering, the Church has the greatest opportunity and responsibility to shine the light of love and compassion.

This is what Jesus spoke of and demonstrated when He said He “came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10) and “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me . . . He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted . . . to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord” (Luke 4:18-19, nkjv).

As I reflect on the last few years of LIFE’s many outreaches since I became Director of Missions, I stand in awe – of the need, the opportunity, our friends’ generosity, you. And ultimately, I stand in awe of the results. Here are just a few:

Just in the past three years, more than a thousand water wells have been completed in some of the most remote regions of the world. More than a million children have been fed. Two new LIFE Centers have been established – caring for the most vulnerable children in the world, children who are abandoned or victims of sex trafficking – in addition to the seven other centers already established and being sustained. Together, we have provided 450,000 pairs of shoes and new smiles for children suffering from cleft lip and cleft palate. That is awe inspiring, is it not?

Yet, the result that makes my heart sing more than any other and causes heaven to erupt with sounds of great rejoicing is the 2 million-plus individuals who have surrendered their hearts and lives to our Savior, Jesus. Churches are being established, while open air crusades and follow-up discipleship are continuing in places most minds cannot even picture. These places are so remote that when I walk into a village, people are still shocked to see a white man.

The Gospel of HOPE is filling the airways from radio to TV and every area of social media, reaching into countries that have been utterly closed to the Gospel for more years than most of us have been alive. All of this is made possible because of our LIFE Outreach family, whom we most affectionately call FRIENDS, a vital part to all the Kingdom of God is accomplishing in a World ON FIRE!
