Do You Believe What God Says About You?

As Christians, we are prone to characterize our battles as good versus evil. Of course, this is easy for us to process. It is how we make sense of the narratives in our heads. Like the shows or movies we watch, we tend to think of battles as angels versus demons.

And there is truth to this. When you think about the eternal battles we face, there is a real devil. There are real demons who seek to destroy you, not just to inconvenience you but to end you, not just to thwart the plans God has in store for you but to take you out, not just to frustrate you but to nullify your impact and influence.

But sometimes the battles we face are internal battles—not of good and evil, but over what God has said about you, and whether or not you will choose to believe Him. If you’re like me, sometimes you are your own worst enemy. I often do more damage to myself than the devil does. As a result, I often choose not to believe what God believes about me.

If you struggle with the same problem, I want you to understand something: Choosing to believe what God says about you is not arrogance. As with David, the goal is not self-confidence but God-confidence. You must realize that God has you appointed, chosen, and destined for a specific purpose.

Embrace this today: The position of success God has given you and the fact that you made the team, got the job, landed the deal, built something, or created a legacy is not because of happenstance or circumstance. It is not just good luck or good karma. God has positioned you. God has given you a platform. God has allowed you to prosper. God has put you in a specific place. Don’t doubt what He has spoken over you. We have a tendency to not believe what God has said about us. Second Corinthians 10:4-5 says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”

Your identity is at risk when you choose to believe that your worth is predicated upon your acceptance and accomplishments. When your value is inextricably connected to the ever-changing situations and circumstances around you, you will find yourself on a roller coaster of emotions, up and down, based on how things are going.

There is a concrete reality God wants to speak over you today: Your life is meaningful. Your life is significant. You are not revolutionary matter, made up of some catalytic collision of chemical components. God formed you and fashioned you in your mother’s womb before you were a twinkle in your daddy’s eye, long before you were a conversation between two people who loved each other. Before the positive pregnancy test, God was positive about you. He predetermined your steps and organized your way. He has spoken over you. The question is: Will you receive what He has put in motion in your life?

God did not make a mistake when He made you. When the Bible says we must tear down every lofty opinion, that includes the inner critic and the inner dialogue that says, I’m not enough. I don’t do enough. I’m not good enough. I don’t have enough.

Let God Almighty speak over you: You are enough. It’s time to stop living the lie, and believe that today.

Remember, you are already chosen, already worthy, already enough. Let the doubts and the insecurities go. This is your time. Be confident in who God says you are and the value you bring.
