This year, we celebrate 50 years in ministry. I have often been asked how we have been successful for so long. The answer really is quite simple. It’s a commitment to sharing the love of Jesus Christ in both word and deed.
This goes beyond just my parents, though they have led the way. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Their commitment to each other and to the Lord has laid the foundation for some amazing work. But the success has been built upon the dedication of many others, too.
It includes the hundreds of guests on LIFE Today who have opened up their lives, shared their experiences, admitted their struggles, and pointed the way to redemption. By sharing their stories and wisdom in a way that relates to our everyday experiences, they have encouraged and inspired millions of others.
It includes the missionaries that we support who have given everything to help meet the immediate physical needs and eternal spiritual needs of people around the world. It is an honor for us, as a ministry, to join with them in the work that they are doing. By providing infrastructure, guidance, and support, we free them to focus on the vital needs of the people they serve and reach out to many more.
It includes the dedicated staff of LIFE Outreach International, many of whom have given up more lucrative positions in business in order to help build God’s kingdom. From the people who answer the telephones and pray with viewers to the camera operators who venture into desolate and sometimes dangerous parts of the world, the people that you don’t see are every bit as important as those in the public eye.
And of course it includes every single friend, partner, and supporter who has given a dollar or a million dollars to increase the demonstration of the Gospel both here in America and around the world. We may never meet face-to-face, but we are bound together in our commitment to share Christ with others.
We don’t know what the next 50 years has in store, but our commitment will never change. As long as we are able, we will continue to preach the saving grace through our Messiah, Jesus Christ, and follow His example to meet the needs of others while pointing them back to God. We cannot express enough gratitude for those who have joined us over the past five decades, but we promise to honor your prayers, love, and sacrifices by pursuing the call of Christ for many years to come. We are humbled by what God has chosen to do through us — you included — and look forward to even greater things. May God continue to use us all for His glory.
